Canada’s most romantic restaurants revealed

The most romantic day of the year is fast approaching and if your restaurant isn’t already fully booked on February 14th and for much of the following weekend, then hopefully you’ve only got a small number of tables available.

Has your restaurant gone the extra mile to be super romantico this Valentine’s Day? If it has, then you’ll stand a bigger chance of appearing in the rundown of this year's rundown of the country’s most romantic restaurants.

Compiled by online reservations provider OpenTable, the ‘Canada’s 100 Most Romantic Restaurants for 2018’ list reflect the combined opinions of more than 500,000 restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 2,000 restaurants across Canada.

Restaurants included in the list hail from 46 cities based in nine provinces, with Ontario being the most represented region with 40 establishments in there, followed by Alberta with 20, British Columbia (14) and Quebec (13), while Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and Newfoundland complete the list.

Some of the establishments that feature include celebrated romantic spots, such as Vancouver’s Seasons in the Park with its stunning panoramic view of the city skyline, Montreal's French classic Restaurant Le Continental and the charming Inn on the Twenty.

The list provides some insight into Canadians’ prefered cuisine during their romantic dinners. Steakhouses and Italian restaurants were the top choices but Canadian, Continental and French cuisines were also popular.

'Endless options'

Caroline Potter, OpenTable’s chief dining officer, commented: “From coast to coast, Canada has endless romantic dining options.

“This year's list is the ideal guide for those looking to spark connection on Valentine's Day and beyond, featuring an array of restaurants that offer memorable experiences, from casual to fine dining.”

The list was generated using restaurant reviews submitted by OpenTable diners between December 1, 2016 and November 30, 2017.

All restaurants with a minimum overall score and certain number of reviews were included for consideration, scored and sorted into alphabetical order in line with the percentage of reviews for which ‘romantic’ was selected as a special feature.

So based on this methodology, these are Canada’s 100 most romantic restaurants in 2018:
